Living With Diabetes Podcasts

Following the production of 22 films and audio podcasts by the staff of the Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre, the Norfolk Diabetes Trust has funded a member of staff to promote these across the whole of Norfolk to every GP practice giving people with diabetes access to information to help them live with their diabetes.

They have funded the production of 10,000 DVDs containing all 22 films for patients that do not use computers and the printing of business cards containing the links for online versions of the films and audio podcasts.

Each practice receives 50 DVDs and 1,000 cards for each surgery within the practice to be given to patients as part of their annual review.

Since the podcasts went onto the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital website in November 2014 they have had in excess of 25,000 views/listens. View the podcasts here – http://www.nnuh.nhs.uk/departments/diabetes-and-endocrinology/diabetes/adult-diabetes-podcasts/.

The project initially concentrated on the practices within central Norfolk including North Norfolk, South Norfolk and Norwich Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), so far 95% of these practices have engaged with using these resources.

The project later expanded to include the Gt.Yarmouth and Waveney and West Norfolk CCG with many practices booked for visits.

We are also turning the films into a staff training resource for care homes.
