The VALON multispot laser was purchased in 2012 following a very generous donation from the NDT.

Retinal laser treatment in diabetic retinopathy has been shown to be very effective at reducing the risk of visual loss. However, treatment with our previous laser machine required minumum of 2 or 3 sessions to complete the treatment, was slow and sometimes painful.

The new VALON laser machine is quicker and painless and allows us to see and treat patients on the same day and usually in one session.

Furthermore, we have reduced the number of ‘laser slots’ in our clinics and replaced them with slots for new and follow up patients thus increasing our capacity.
